Ive been sketching and painting most of my life and now that I’ve retired I,m able to concentrate more on what I,ve always loved to do.
I,m interested in loose, impressionistic sketching and painting and am now ready to pass my experience on to beginners and returners to painting.
I,m currently working on a workbook so be sure to get it by signing up for my newsletter.

In this little watercolor sketch I was just capturing a fleeting impression or memory of being on the outskirts of a town and near a station. I didn’t put much detail in the buildings and treated the background buildings as one shape and tone. As long as certain things are correct like the perspective, scale of cars and figures, consistancy of tone, and direction of light, the painting can be done very quickly and boldly.
And even if it looks a bit carelessly painted up close, if you stand back a bit or squint your eyes it starts lo look more realistic, almost like a monotone photo.
